Abstract

A composition suitable for the production of filaments, yarns or films comprises an acrylonitrile polymer dissolved in a mixture comprising nitromethane, acetonitrile and from 0.5 to 10 per cent by volume of water, based on the total volume of the mixture. The polymer may be polyacrylonitrile or copolymers of acrylonitrile with vinyl acetate, or vinyl chloride, or acrylic acid and its esters, or styrene, or isobutene, or 2-vinyl pyridine and mixtures.
