697,403. Reducing surface reflection. VOGT, A. April 6, 1951 [April 8, 1950], No. 8069/51. Class 97 (i). In the reduction of surface reflection from an article by the application of a number of thin interference layer at least one layer is of an oxide of a rare earth having an atomic number between 58 and 71 inclusive, or of lanthanium, scandium or yttrium. Preferably cerium oxide is used and is deposited by thermal evaporation in vacuo.
