Abstract
696,588. Impulse transmitters. AUTOMATIC TELEPHONE & ELECTRIC CO., Ltd. Nov. 14, 1951 [Nov. 16, 1950], No. 28026/50. Class 40 (iv). In order to prevent fraudulent calls the dial of a coin-box telephone set can be advanced only from its normal position. A disc 40 secured to the dial shaft 10 has a flange 47 turned away from the finger-plate and provided with teeth 48. A pawl 50 rigid with an arm 55 loaded by a spring 53 is hinged on a pivoted member 52 which normally is held by the spring 53 against a stop. The pawl 50 rests in a gap in the flange. When the dial is advanced from its normal position the pawl rides over the teeth 48. At the start of the return movement, one of the teeth 48 rotates the pawl 50 and the member 52 in a clockwise direction until the member 52 is snapped back to its rest position by the spring 53. Should an attempt be made to advance the dial before it has been allowed to return completely this will be prevented by engagement of the pawl 50 against a tooth 48. It is arranged that the cam-operated contacts removing the short-circuit on the impulsing contacts when a free call digit is dialled are reclosed before the pawl 50 drops into the gap in the flange.
