Abstract

696,580. Electric motor driving arrangements. COMMERCIAL IGNITION CO., Ltd., and FULKES, L. P. May 28, 1951 [June 6, 1950], No. 14069/50. Class 35. [Also in Groups XXX and XXXVII] The armature 6 of an electric motor is rotatably mounted within polepieces 3 secured to the housing 1 and is secured to a commutator 7 on an armature shaft 8, within the shaft is a sleeve 14 secured by a nut 18 to a lead-screw 17. The lower end of the shaft 8 is mounted on a ball-bearing 11 one race of which is secured to the shaft 8 and the other to a spider 12. The lower end of the lead-screw 17 is keyed in a boss 21 of the spider 12, the boss rotating in a ball-bearing 22. The lead-screw is secured by a nut 28. A sun gear 33 on the shaft 8 drives planet gears 34, 35 on the spider 12 secured to the lead-screw, the planet gear 35 engaging an internaLgear 36 on the casing 1. The direction of the motor is controlled by a pair of solenoids 37 by selectively actuating one of a pair of switches.
