Abstract

696,418. Securing railway rails. BOTTAMS, S., and BURNS, J. N. April 11, 1951. [Feb. 14, 1950] No. 3801/50. Class 104 (ii). In an arrangement for securing railway rails to a chair 3 by means of a resilient member 4 the rail rests on a pad 12 of insulating material and the arm 7 of the member 4 is fitted with a nose-piece 15 of insulating material. The insulation pad 12 extends at 13 over the inner sides of ribs 5 and at 14 over the edges of the chair 3. The pad 12 and nose-piece 15 are made of a material possessing high electrical-resistance properties and having a coefficient of friction at least equal to steel such as a laminated phenolic material containing fibre.
