Abstract

A coating composition for forming films having a wrinkle-textured pattern comprises 150 parts by weight of a vinyl chloride-vinyl acetate copolymer, 100 parts of butyl acetate, 100 parts of methyl ethyl ketone and 125 parts of cyclohexanone. Plasticizers, such as diethyl hexyl phthalate, tricresyl phosphate, dioctyl-and dibutyl phthalate, and fillers, pigments and dyes may be added. After application, the composition is heated differentially until a skin forms in different areas and the assembly is immersed in water, preferably containing a wetting agent, e.g. sodium sulphate of 3,9-diethyltridecanol-6, when wrinkling of these areas takes place. Rinsing with water removes the wetting agent, and the film is heated to remove the solvent and peeled off the support, preferably by immersing first in a solution of trisodium phosphate, and is finally air-dried.
