694,150. Wind tunnel testing of model aerothermodynamic ducts. LEDUC, R. Aug. 16. 1951. [Aug. 25, 1950] No. 19352/51. Addition to 664,055. Class 4. Apparatus for testing model aerothermodymamic ducts in a wind tunnel, as claimed in claims 1 and 2 of the parent Specification. includes, in addition to the mentioned coaxial body, means having no material connection with the model duct for creating in the fluid stream traversing the duct a loss of head equivalent to that which would be caused by the given heat-input which the apparatus is designed to simulate. The body 2, mounted within the duct 1, carries at its forward end a grid 3 which has adequate clearance from the duct wall to ensure against errors due to surface friction effects, the characteristics of the grid being determined by trial and error so that the loss of head (p<SP>1</SP>-p<SP>2</SP>) in the total test is equivalent to that occurring in the presence of real combustion or heating.
