670,930. Silencing gaseous currents. CEMENTATION (MUFFELITE), Ltd. Oct. 25, 1950 [April 26, 1950], No. 10333/50: Class 7(ii) [Also in Group X] In a jet engine test house (see Group X), comprising cooling-air intake ,ducts 8, 9 and a tunnel 13 into which the jet from the engine 1 is directed, sound-absorbent " splitters " as at 15, 54 are disposed in the ducts 8, 9, in the tunnel 13, and in a primary duct 3 for the supply of air to the engine 1. In the duct 3 and tunnel 13, as shown in Fig. 2, the "splitters," e.g. as at 28a and 44, are arranged in staggered groups and follow generally the configuration of the duct in which they lie, as defined by islands 21, 37, and projecting walls, e.g. as at 25a and 33. The splitters may lie in both vertical and horizontal planes. A detuner 19 is located in the tunnel 13.
