Abstract

693,854. Bells. PULLARS INSTRUMENTS, Ltd. Dec. 18, 1951 [Jan. 23, 1951], No. 1771/51. Class 13. During movement of an actuating member one part of a striker freely pivoted on the actuating member engages a stop so imparting movement to another part of the striker which, when the actuating member engages a stop, moves under its own inertia to hit the sounding member and to rebound. The actuating member is driven by a cam. A disc 15 fixed to a clockwork-driven shaft 13 is in lost motion pin-and-slot connection with a disc 14 loosely mounted on the shaft 13. When the mechanism is released the discs 14, 15 are driven until a peg 21 on the actuating member 10 is drawn by a spring 22 into slots in the discs 14, 15, whereupon the heel 27 of the striker 25 contacts a stop 29 so that the striker rotates, hits the dome 31 and rebounds freely owing to the actuating member 10 being obstructed by the stop 29. Reverse rotation of the shaft 13 takes up the lost motion between the discs 14, 15 so that the sloping edge of the slot in the disc 15 lifts the peg 21 on to the outer edge of the discs.
