Abstract
Compositions of reduced tendency to accumulate electrostatic charges comprise a polymer or interpolymer of a compound containing at least one CH2=C< group per molecule and a synthetic linear N-alkoxymethyl polyamide, e.g. N - methoxymethyl polyhexamethylene adipamide or sebacamide, in an amount between 2 and 25 per cent of the polymeric material. Polymers mentioned are polyvinyl chloride, methacrylate resins, polythene and chlorinated polythene. The compositions may also contain pigments, e.g. white lead paste, lubricants, e.g. stearic acid, stabilizers, e.g. calcium stearate, plasticizers and dyes. The compositions may be made into filaments, cast or calendered sheets or films, or used for coating. The Provisional Specification describes also the coating of sheets and films made of the above polymers with solutions of the polyamides in, for example, a mixture of ethyl alcohol, benzyl alcohol and water. Specification 573,482 is referred to.ALSO:The Provisional Specification describes articles e.g. filaments and films, made from a polymer of a compound containing at least one CH2=C< group per molecule treated, e.g., by coating with a synthetic linear N-alkoxymethyl polyamide, e.g. N - methoxy - methyl polyhexamethylene adipamide, as a solution or melt to reduce the tendency of the article to accumulate electrostatic charges. Polymers mentioned are polyvinyl chloride, methacrylate resins, polythene and chlorinated polythene. Specification 573,482 is referred to.
