692,523. Mixing appliances. SUNBEAM CORPORATION. April 6, 1951, No. 8070/51. Class 86. A food mixer includes a pair of beaters 23, 24 rotated by an electric motor, and a mixing bowl 20 with a tapered side wall, the beater 23 having tapered beater portions 35, 36 conforming to the tapered side wall of the bowl, and means for supporting the beaters in a zone extending from the tapered side wall of the bowl at least to the centre of the bowl to cause uniform agitation in said zone. The bowl 20 has a relatively flat bottom and the beater 24 has its beater portions 37, 38 of substantially rectangular shape to conform to the flat bottom of the bowl. A rim 20<SP>1</SP> on the bottom of the bowl is received by an annular recess 14b in a turntable 14 and the bowl is rotated through a friction drive in the form of a button 40 on the bottom of the beater 23 which engages the bowl. The turntable is also formed with an annular recess 14a to receive the rim of a bowl of smaller diameter, Fig. 1, (not shown). In a modification, Figs. 7 and 8, (not shown), the two beaters are identical with the beater 23, Fig. 1. Specifications 627,796 and 657,895 are referred to.
