Abstract
Transparent films, 0.0007*?*0.001 in. thick, consist of 15-40 parts of a plasticizer for rubber hydrochloride and 100 parts of rubber hydrochloride, are coated on at least one surface with a hydrophilic substance soluble in the solution from which the film was cast but less soluble or insoluble in the film itself, to prevent fogging of the film upon condensation of moisture thereon, and include a substance which prevents adherence of the films to one another when stacked. The plasticizer is exemplified by dibutyl sebacate, and dibutyl sebacate in admixture with 2-ethylhexyl-diphenyl phosphate, methoxyethyl oleate, or butyl stearate, the anti-fogging agent by the mono-and dioleates and mono-and distearates of polyethylene glycols of mol. wt. 400-4000, the dilaurate of polyethylene glycol of mol. wt. 1500, and a sorbitan monopalmitate polyoxyalkylene derivative, and the substance which prevents adhesion by starch and silica aerogel.ALSO:For packaging food, especially red meat, there is employed transparent film, 0.0007-0.001 inch thick, consisting of 15-40 parts of a plasticizer for rubber hydrochloride and 100 parts of rubber hydrochloride, which film is coated on at least one surface with a hydrophilic substance soluble in the solution from which the film was cast but less soluble or insoluble in the film itself, to prevent fogging of the film upon condensation of moisture on the inner surface of the film, and includes a substance which prevents adherence of films to one another when stacked. The plasticizer is exemplified by dibutyl sebacate, and dibutyl sebacate in admixture with 2-ethyhexyl-diphenyl phosphate, methoxyethyl oleate, or butyl stearate, the anti-fogging agent by the mono- and dioleates and mono- and distearates of polyethylene glycols of mol. wt. 400-4,000, the dilaurate of polyethylene glycol of mol. wt. 1,500, and a sorbitan monopalmitate polyoxyalkylene derivative, and the substance which prevents adhesion by starch and silica aerogel.
