Abstract

692,140. Ordnance. VICKERS - ARMSTRONGS, Ltd. April 28, 1950 [April 29, 1949], No. 11537/49. Classes 92(i) and 92(ii) Guided missiles 17 are launched from tubes 15 on a turret 13, the tubes being pivoted to move from a vertical loading position, Fig. 1 (not shown) to a horizontal or inclined -firing position, Fig. 3. The turret is rotatable about a vertical axis and carries target-seeking apparatus comprising a scanning aerial 19, to which the tube-training mechanism may be locked. The missiles are fed from an underground magazine by chain-ramming or equivalent conveying mechanism. The launching means may be on a ship or on a mobile carriage.
