Abstract

689,144. Magnetic recording apparatus. LOEWE OPTA AKT.-GES. March 14, 1951 [March 21, 1950; March 23, 1950], No. 6153/51. Class 40 (ii). A magnet system for magnetically recording. reproducing and erazing sound on a tape-like carrier, is characterized by magnet cores which have working gaps arranged at diametrically opposite points. In the embodiment described with regard to Fig. 1, a circular magnetic head 1 is provided with diametrically opposite gaps 5, 6 which are in staggered relationship with regard to the width of a tape passing over the head, whereby dual tracks may be recorded in opposite directions. Fig. 2 illustrates the method by which such a dual track may be recorded. The full line indicates the position and direction of the tape as it passes firstly over the erazing head L and then over the recording head 5, while the dotted line indicates its position when erazing and recording in the opposite direction.
