Class 45 [Also in Group XXVIII] A ground post 1 has a drum 5 with an axial socket, rotatably mounted in an electrically insulated manner on its upper end and a manually operable device on the axis of the drum adapted to co-operate with the end of the post to raise the drum relative to the post. An insulator 2 is clamped to the upper end of the post by a ring 4 and bolt 3 and the drum 5 for electric fencing wire is rotatably mounted on the insulator. The top of the insulator has a cone-shaped surface which can engage a corresponding part in the hub of the drum to prevent free rotation of the drum by frction. A screw 9 having a captive arm 10 is tapped into a hole 8 on the axis of the drum and this can be rotated by the arm 10 so as to engage the top of the post to raise the drum to allow free rotation. The arm 10 has a depending leg 11 which can engage one or other of two aperatures in the drum surface so that in one position of the arm the coned surfaces are engaged and in the other position they are disengaged. A stop 14 limits movement of the arm 10. The post may be of the type described in Specification 688,392. A pull wire, which can be attached to the fencing wire to tension it, may be provided on a reel clamped to the post, the reel having a ratchet device.
