Abstract

688,310. Road traffic signs. CLARE & CO., Ltd., R. S. May 23, 1951 [Sept. 2, 1950; Sept. 21, 1950], No. 21691/50 and 23122/50. Drawings to Specification. Class 3 (ii). A light reflecting device of solidified plastic material is permeated by a multiplicity of lightreflecting spheres (e.g. glass balls) having a diameter between 1mm. and 3mm. and constituting at least 50 per cent. of the mass of the device, some of the spheres being exposed at the surface of the device. The device is used as a road surface marker and the plastic material is white and opaque. It may be made in the form of a strip or as a pad of any desired shape and is stuck to the road-surface. In use as the marker wears away fresh glass balls are continually exposed. Up to 60 per cent. of the mass may be formed of the glass balls.
