Abstract

687,442. Rotary pumps. GENERAL MOTORS CORPORATION. April 3, 1951 [April 22, 1950], No. 7663/51. Class 110(ii) A blower or pump having two or more rotors is provided with an adhesively-bonded flock coating in the form of short-pile velvet on parts of the rotors and casing walls. The figure shows a Roots blower with coatings 44, 46, 48, 50 in the " valleys of the rotors 10 16, 56 and 58 on the casing and also on the end covers facing the rotors. The in. dividual fibres are of the order of 0.0002 inch diameter and 0.03 in length and preferably applied by blowing on to the adhesive followed by baking. Fibres of rayon, nylon or cotton may be used.
