Abstract
687,173. Delivering measured quantities of liquid. WALL & SONS, Ltd., T. Aug. 9. 1951 [Aug. 23, 1950]. No. 20828/50. Class 106 (v). [Also in Group XVII]. A continuous method of filling predetermined quantities of ice cream into containers comprises passing a stream of ice cream issuing under pressure from a chilling and emulsifying apparatus into a chamber through a conduit connected to the exit end of said apparatus, displacing the chamber with respect to the conduit when the predetermined quantity of ice cream has entered the chamber and ejecting the ice cream from the displaced chamber into the container to be filled. The ice cream is fed under pressure from chilling and emulsifying apparatus 23 through a conduit 22 to a transverse cylindrical bore 2 in a cylindrical member 1, a rod 10 moving a free piston 3 in said bore to suck the ice cream into the bore, alternatively the rod 10 may be dispensed with and the piston 3 moved by pressure of the ice cream. The member 1 is then rotated by a rod 6 to a discharge position where the piston 3 is moved by a rod 16 to discharge the ice cream into a container A. The amount delivered may be varied by adjusting a nut 13 on the rod 10 or, if the rod is not fitted, by varying the rate of delivery of icecream into the measuring apparatus.
