Abstract

686,514. Mounting switches. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. July 4, 1951 [July 8, 1950], No. 15877/51. Class 38 (v) [Also in Group XXXII] A resilient mounting for a voltage regulator or other piece of apparatus, e.g. for use on aircraft, comprises a base 2 carrying at least three spiral springs 5 on brackets 3, the inner ends of the springs being arranged in a common plane parallel to the base 2 and supporting by means of arms 8 the base 7 of the voltage regulator. In the form shown, there are four springs 5 arranged at the corners of the rectangular base 2 and the centre of gravity of the regulator lies in the common plane. Displacement of the base 7 is limited by the arms 8 engaging the brackets 3 or by pins 9 on the arms engaging rubber eyelets 4 in circular holes in the brackets 3. The springs are of laminated structure so as to be highly damped and maybe surrounded by tight sleeves of woven metal strands, Fig. 3 (not shown). They are also such that they are displaced an equal amount in any of three mutually perpendicular directions by a given force applied to the inner end of a spring.
