Abstract

686,426. Disc brakes. LAMBERT BRAKE CORPORATION. Oct. 3, 1950 [July 14, 1950], No. 24183/50. Class 103 (i). In a disc brake of the type comprising axially spaced friction disc carrier rings 10 and 11 which are adapted to be moved apart into engagement with the internal faces of a rotating drum 2 by the action of balls 13 in inclined recesses, when the rings 10 and 11 are relatively rotated as by fluid pressure actuators 15 and 16, a separate auxiliary brake actuator is provided which, when the invention is in use for vehicle brakes, may be used as a parking brake. The auxiliary brake actuator comprises a lever 23 having a forked inner arm 24 for connection to a brake actuating cable 26 and a flat outer part 27 which pivots between the discs 10, 11 on a ball 29 and on rotation forces the discs apart by means of balls 33 in inclined recesses in a similar manner to the balls 13.
