Abstract
686,346. Typewriters &c. BIRCHMEIER'S SOHNE, A. Oct. 18, 1950 [Nov. 16, 1949], No. 25381/50. Class 100 (iv). [Also in Group XXV] Sound-deadening stands and machine fixings. -A base for typewriters comprises a plate 1 and fastening means for securing a machine, the base having an aperture 3 for carrying, and turned-down edges 4 to support a sound-insulating layer 5. The machine is fastened to the base by headed studs 6 fixed, together with feet 10, by a screw 7, the studs 6 engaging in the centre holes of rubber inserts provided on the typewriter frame 8 or alternatively engage in V-shaped springs 16, Fig. 5, fitted in hollow inserts 14 which hold fast a rubber ring 15 projecting over the flange of the inserts so it bears against the upper side of the plate 1. In further modifications of the fastening means, the typewriter frame is engaged by upturned flanges stamped from the plate 1, by notched right-angled leaf springs, by pivotal lugs, or by screw connections with resilient washers fitted between the plate 1 and the frame 8. In each of the embodiments the typewriter frame may be located in position on the base by pins 6a and held fast by bracket shaped strips 27. Stiffening ribs may be pressed in the plate 1.
