Abstract

685,987. Juice extractors. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Oct. 29, 1951 [Oct. 31, 1950], No. 25230/51. Class 28 (ii). In a rotated reamer type of juice extractor the straining apertures 21 at the bottom of the bowl 8 are kept clear of pulp and seeds by shaking the bowl by an eccentric sleeve 23 on the drive shaft 7, thereby giving such motion to a sleeve 24 fixed on the hub 18 of the bowl. Mutually engaging ribs 25a and recesses on the lower wall of the bowl 8 and on the internal wall of the juice collector 9 prevent rotation of the bowl but allow small lateral reciprocation of the bowl within the collector 9. The collector 9 has a discharge spout 15 and is formed with depending bosses 16 fitting into recesses in the body of the motor 2. Thereby the bowls and other parts may be lifted away from the motor. In a modification, Fig. 4 (not shown), a single bowl collects and discharges the juices, a shallow pan strainer being located in the bowl and reciprocated as before. In another modification, Fig. 5 (not shown), the ribs 25a in Fig. 2 are dispensed with, the friction between the two bowls preventing rotation but allowing lateral reciprocation. The device may be used on a domestic mixer, the drive motor of which is then clamped upside down to position its drive shaft upwards.
