The invention comprises: vitamin B1 naphthalene - 1 : 5 - disulphonate; the production thereof by reacting vitamin B1 or an easily soluble salt thereof with naphthalene-1 : 5-disulphonic acid or a salt thereof in an aqueous or alcoholic solvent; and foodstuffs enriched therewith (see Group VI). In examples: (1) vitamin B1 dihydrochloride is reacted with naphthalene-1 : 5-disulphonic acid in water; (2) vitamin B1 monohydrochloride is reacted with naphthalene-1 : 5-disulphonic acid in methanol.ALSO:Foodstuffs, especially farinaceous substances (e.g. flour, noodles and spaghetti), are enriched with vitamin B1 naphthalene-1 : 5-disulphonate.
