A non-linear resistance comprises an aggregate of point-contiguous semi-conductive particles, each having a conductive core, bound together by an insulating medium of the same coefficient of thermal expansion. In one form, the particles are silicon carbide coated with silicon dioxide and the binder is magnesium aluminium silicate (2MgO-2Al 2 O 3 -5SiO 2 ), or quartz, or beryllium aluminium silicate, or lithium aluminium silicate, or zinc orthosilicate. In another form, steel ball-bearings with an oxidized surface are bound by sodium silicate.
