Abstract
681,189. Percussive drills. VICTOR PRODUCTS (WALLSEND), Ltd., and MANN, R. W. Nov. 10, 1950 [Nov. 15, 1949], No. 29255/49. Class 124. [Also in Group XXII] A rock drilling support comprises a mandrel bar having a device for anchoring one end to the rock face and one or more drill supports radial to the mandrel bar and mounted for angular movement thereon so that the drilling reaction is sustained by the support and the mandrel bar. As shown a mandrel bar 1 is secured .to a rock face 2 by an expanding. collet 3 and has two angularly adjustable supports 11, 12 mounted on its other end. Each support 11, 12 has mounted thereon, by a clamp 28, a feeder bar 34 carrying a rock drill. The supports may have their outer parts 22 sliding on an inner part 21 for longitudinal adjustment by means of a rack and pinion and may be hinged at the mandrel end. The supports may be detachably mounted on the mandrel bar and the drills may be fitted on the side of the support nearer the rock face or on the side away from the rock face, Fig. 3 (not shown). The drill feed may be mechanical or manual.
