Abstract
681,097. Ampoules. DEHN, S. G. (Scherer Corporation, R. P.). July 7, 1949, No. 18012/49. Class 81 (ii). A jet injection ampoule with a hollow shell having a skin contacting end provided with a minute injection orifice, wherein the inside of said ampoule leading up to said orifice is streamlined, while the skin contacting surface around said orifice is so shaped and restricted to such an extent as to make the sealing pressure between said surface and the skin at least as great at the edge of the orifice as at a distance therefrom. As shown one end of a hypo-jet injector ampoule A is convergently restricted as at 12 and is rounded as at 14. This round end, which may be flattened as at 15, has therein a jet discharge orifice 16 with substantially parallel sides which are rounded off at 18 so that the interior surface of the orifice blends smoothly with the inner surface of the ampoule. In operation the ampoule is pressed tightly against the skin such that the skin actually bulges into the orifice. This ensures a hydraulic seal between the skin and the ampoule so that all the medicament therein passes into the tissues of the body through the channel 26a. The shape of the orifice end of the ampoule may be varied as shown in Figs. 5-8. Specifications 568,237 and 681,098 are referred to.
