Abstract
680,743. Velocity-injection apparatus. BECTON DICKINSON & CO. Sept. 6, 1950, No. 21973/50. Class 81 (ii). A hypodermic injection device is provided with a medicament chamber mechanism adapted to be cocked and then released to discharge medicament from the chamber, power-operated means for cocking the mechanism and manuallycontrolled means for releasing the mechanism. As shown in the Figure, compressed gas from a cylinder 38, the flow of which is controlled by valve 42, forces upward a piston 31, the face 32 of which coacts with a plunger 28 which is forced to the right, compressing a pair of springs 27. When the plunger 28 has fully compressed springs 27, a catch 36 engages a shoulder 29 on the plunger and holds the mechanism "cocked." Upon release of a catch 20, the parts 14, 15, 18 and 19 are propelled forward by the springs 27, the plunger 14 ejecting medicament from a container 13. Specification 669,053 is referred to.
