Abstract

680,097. Pneumatic tyres. WINGFOOT CORPORATION. July 5,1951 [Aug. 18, 1950], No. 15957/51. Class 144 (ii). The beads of a deflated tyre are held in engagement with the wheel-rim by means of circumferentially spaced resilient clips 11 each comprising a base portion 16 to fit under the bead, a rolled edge 12 to engage the bead-toe, and a flange 18 adapted to seat between the bead-heel and the rimflange 8, 9 with a rolled edge 14 for snap-engagement over the edge of the rim flange. As shown, the base-portion 16 of the clip and the flange-portion 18 are provided with upturned edges 15 and tongues 17 respectively for biting-engagement with the tyre beads.
