679,606. Reciprocating machines. GILBERT & BARKER MANUFACTURING CO. April 6, 1951, No. 8016/51. Class 35. A vibratory motor has a coil 7 mounted on a hollowed core 6 of a first casing 1, an armature 10 which slides in a hole 12 formed in a second casing 2 which abuts the first casing 1 to complete the coil enclosure, and a rod 9 which is fixed to the armature and which extends axially through the core 6 so as to operate mechanism; in this case the rod 9 acts as a pump piston. Fig. 2 shows an arrangement in which the armature 10<SP>1</SP> is moved in both directions by two coils 7<SP>1</SP>, 30 which are enclosed by a 3-section casing. The apparatus is fed from A.C. supply with half-wave rectifier 18<SP>1</SP> in the case of 1-coil motor or rectifiers 18<SP>1</SP>, 42 for the 2-coil motor. In order to eliminate residual magnetism the rectifiers are shunted by resistances as shown in Figs. 5, 6, 7.
