Abstract

679,289. Hand-irons. WOOLFSON, J., WOOLFSON, E., (trading as SCOTTISH PRECISION ENGINEERING CO.), and MOSLEY, W. June 11, 1951 [June 9, 1950], No. 14436/50. Class 138 (ii). In an electric iron having a sole plate 1 carrying an electric element 2, and a cowl 3 enclosing the element 2 and supporting a handle 4, the front portion of the cowl 3 being formed with at least one louvre 5, the rear portion of the cowl projects to the rear of the sole plate to form a gap 6 constituting at least one air discharge opening. In the forward travel of the iron air enters the louvres 5 and is discharged through the gap 6, thereby keeping the handle and upper portion of the cowl cool.
