Abstract

A granular fire-extinguishing material comprises sodium bicarbonate having a particle size of 0.02-0.15 millimetres. The material may be sprayed as a well defined jet with little dispersion in the surrounding air in which case the most advantageous particle size is 0.05-0.15 mm. Alternatively the material may be dispersed in the surrounding air without the formation of a well defined jet in which case the most advantageous particle size is 0.02-0.06 mm.
