Class 58 In a combined mowing and threshing machine in which the drive of the individual parts is effected from a common shaft, e.g. the shaft 5 of the threshing drum, which in its turn is driven by a motor 3, the drive of the individual aggregates is divided into two groups of which one, namely, that lying in the feeding direction of the cereals before the threshing drum, e.g. the upper and lower band cylinders 43, 44, conveying bands 23, 22, mowing beam 25, windlass 30 and straw discharger 15, is adapted to be disconnected by means of a coupling from the threshing drum and from the group lying beyond it, e.g. elevator 9, scattering blower 11 and press 7. As shown a belt 12 runs from a disc 13 mounted on the shaft 5 over a disc 16 mounted on the shaft 18 of the upper band cylinder to a tension roller 17 which is mounted eccentrically on the crank end of a shaft 33 mounted in the casing 1 and provided with a handle 34. When the handle 34 is turned from the right top end to the left lower end (as seen in Fig. 4 not shown), a cam 37 on the shaft 33 is also turned, and abutting against the brake jaw 38 pivoted at 39 presses the brake 38 against the rim 40 of the disc 16 thus releasing the tension of the belt 12 whereby no transmission of power takes place between the shafts 5 and 18 so that the conveying bands 22, 23, the straw discharger 15, the mowing beam 25 and the windlass 30 are disconnected. When the lever 34 is returned to its position the brake 38 is released whereupon the belt 12 is tensioned so that the disconnected individual aggegates can again be quickly brought into operation.
