Abstract

676,991. Fluid-actuated valves. ROBERTSHAWFULTON CONTROLS CO. Nov. 29,1949 [Jan. 19, 1949], No. 30624/49. Class 135. A valve mechanism unit suitable for washing machines comprises a housing 10, Fig. 3, having two inlets 15 for hot and cold water communicating through stop valves, e.g., solenoidactuated valves 29 to an outlet passage 11, the flow through the housing being maintained constant by a constant flow valve mechanism in each inlet. A solenoid placed over each casing 22 moves an armature 26 to open a pilot valve 27 so that inlet pressure bleeding into chambers 28 from either chamber 16 or 17 is relieved through the passage 30 in each valve 29 which is then opened by inlet pressure. The constant flow valves for the inlets each comprise a ported sleeve 43, Fig. 2, sliding through a partition 41 and carrying a spring- loaded disc 47 provided with peripheral openings, the open end 51 of the sleeve closing on a fixed seat 37. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91, comprises also a unit with a constant flow valve in the outlet comprising a spring-loaded flow-responsive disc forming a constant annular orifice with the outlet passage walls and attached to a sleeve valve. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
