675,754. Reciprocating pumps. BARROW J. G. S., and WENTWORTH, M. W. EWART-. Aug. 26, 1948 [April 6, 1948], No. 9594/48. Class 102 (i) A reciprocating pump comprises a plurality of pistons 10 disposed in cylinder members 11 and actuated by an axial cam 1 provided with a gear 2 in mesh with a planetary pinion 5 which also meshes with a fixed pinion 4 coaxial with and having a different number of teeth from the gear 2 the planetary pinion being moved in an annular path about the fixed pinion by means of a driving annulus 6. The latter has external worm teeth 9 in mesh with a worm 8 by which it is driven. A pinion 12 similar to the gear 2 and forming part of a second cam (not shown) may be adapted to mesh with the planetary pinion to actuate a second set of pistons disposed to the right of the annulus. In a second expedient gear teeth are formed on the outer periphery of the cam, and the planetary pinion, which is in mesh with the cam plate and with a fixed gear disposed adjacent thereto, is rotatably mounted on a spindle carried by the driving annulus, the latter being provided with internal gear teeth which mesh with a pinion on a driving shaft.
