Abstract

674,242. Hydraulic lifts; preventing access to wells. BECKER, F. W. July 24, 1950. [July 22, 1949] No. 194717/49. Class is (iii). [Also in Croup XXVI] A hydraulic platform hoist has a plurality of rams connected to a common supply of pressure fluid and tilting of the platform, due to uneven loading, is prevented by rigidly securing the platform to the ram piston rods. Tie bolts 25 rigidly connect pistons 17 with a platform supporting channel member 15 and tubular distance pieces 16 are inserted between the pistons and bushes 20 secured to channel 15. The cylinders 6 are rigidly connected by channel members 7, 8 and tie bolts 12. To facilitate removal and inspection of the mechanism a tank 1, installed below ground level, contains the complete cylinder assembly which is located and secured therein by arms 31 and bolts 32. Preventing access to wells.-A screen 35 is arranged around the perimeter of the tank and has guide rods 36 which engage tubes 37 secured to the tank, springs 38 being provided in the tubes to lift the screen when the platform is raised. Upward movement of the screen is limited by slots 39 therein which co-operate with the bolts 32.
