Abstract
674,192. Combined centrifugal and inertia governors. WALKER BROS. (WIGAN), Ltd. Nov. 27, 1950 [Nov. 26, 1949], No. 30351/49. Class 57. Apparatus for preventing overspeeding or overwinding of lifts &c. includes a combined centrifugal and inertia governor, the movements of the centrifugal weights 10 are transmitted through a sleeve 2 and collar 1 to the lever 34, co-operating with a device displaced proportionally to the movement of the lift &c. The sleeve 2 carries arms 9 that engage cam grooves 7 in the sleeve 6 attached to the inertia weight 15. To damp out any vibration in the inertia weight 15, a slight frictional braking force is applied by plungers 21 loaded by adjustable springs 22. The governor may be applied to apparatus as described in Specification 415,112.
