Abstract

[Also in Group VI] A conveyer system in an apparatus for treating canned foods (see Group VI) comprises rows of can guideways 12 consisting of a pair of opposed rails 17 L shape in X-section supported in collars 18 carried by posts 19 on a base 21 and provided with a series of longitudinally spaced can seats 22 adapted to receive the opposite end portions of the cans and if necessary cause them to oscillate. To convey the cans from seat to seat. there is provided between the opposed rails of each guideway 12 a a U-shaped conveyer element 26 mounted on longitudinal spaced cross bars 28 and provided with recesses 27 in the upper edge which engage the can when the cross bars and conveyer are lifted by rods 29. After the cans are raised they are simultaneously carried forward and deposited upon the next seat 22 by levers 37 connected to the conveyer element operated via a rocking shaft 36.
