Abstract

673,266. Drop-bottom skips; vehicle fittings for loading and unloading. DEMPSTER BROS., Inc. May 17, 1950. [June 13, 1949] No. 12293/50. Class 78 (iv). The bottom wall 16 of the dumping container shown has walls 18, telescoping outside the walls 11 of the container and forming with the bottom wall 16 a shoot which is pivoted at 15 to a wall 12 of the container. An extension 23, 24 of the shoot is pivoted to the bottom wall by a hinge 22 which may be constrained by friction so that the extension is held in any position to which it is moved, and the movement of the extension is limited by co-operating stops 26, 27. Lifting pins or eyes 29, 28 are secured respectively to the wall 23 of the shoot and to a point on the wall 12 below the level of the upper edge of the wall 23 when the box is closed. Further lifting pins or eyes 31, 32 are secured on the walls 12, 13 of the container above this level. The bottom wall 16 and the wall 13 adjacent the hinge 15 are reinforced at 14. The container may be carried on a truck provided with lifting equipment, of the type shown in Specifications 605,864, 547,537 and 507,079, in position to discharge its contents laterally.
