[Also in Groups XXXVI, XXXVIII and XL (a)] A discharge tube 1 is filled with a saturable vapour, so that when it is cooled the current therethrough suddenly drops at the temperature at which the filling is saturated. A meter or other responsive device 8 is used to determine the drop in current. The device may be used to indicate whether ambient temperature is above or below that at which the filling is saturated. If the filling is a sample, the temperature at which it is saturated can be determined to indicate the humidity of the vapour from which the sample was drawn.
