Abstract

671,901. Impedance networks. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Aug. 31, 1950 [Sept. 17, 1949], No. 21549/50. Drawings to Specification. Class 40 (viii). [Also in Group XL (c)] The effect of variations in the impedance of a load connected across a parallel tuned circuit is minimised by coupling over a capacitor, Fig. 2 (not shown), having a reactance at the resonant frequency equal to the geometric mean of the extreme values which the impedance can take. The tuned circuit may be fed from the last I.F. amplifier of a receiver (see Group XL (c) and the load may be a crystal rectifier. The apparent impedance of the tuned circuit may be increased by connecting the capacitor to a tap on the inductor, Fig. 5 (not shown), or decreased by tapping the feed point down the inductor, Fig. 6 (not shown). The effect of the stray capacity may be reduced by shunting the load with an inductor, Fig. 7 (not shown).
