671,444. Discharge lamps. ECKO-ENSIGN ELECTRIC, Ltd., and STICKLEY, W. A. Oct. 31, 1950 [Nov. 1, 1949], No. 27898/49. Class 39 (i). In a low-pressure mercury-vapour lamp having an internal fluorescent coating, the starting strip is secured to the envelope by adhesive tape. The copper or nickel tape or wire may first be applied to the tape, e.g. by spraying conducting material thereon, which may be varnished after assembly. One strip may be connected to one cap and extend to within about “-inch of the other cap; or two strips may be connected respectively to each cap. Alternatively, the strip may be applied only to the envelope part on which wall charges accumulate and may be earthed either by a flexible wire or by a contact on the lamp bracket which penetrates through the adhesive tape.
