Abstract
671,387 Plant growth stimulant; treating seeds. CHIM AKT.-GES. Dec. 21, 1948 [Dec. 22, 1947], No. 32983/48. Classes 58 and 111 [Also in Group VI] A plant growth stimulant composition, suitable also for treating seeds comprises at least one plant hormone, yeast autolyreate and one or more fungicides or bactericides such as orthohydroxyquinoline neutral or acid sulphate, organic mercury compounds or thiourea hormones specified are #-indolacetic, #-indolpropionic, # -indolbutyric, # naphthylacetic, phenylacetic, and #-naphthoxyacetic acids, their alkali salts, amides and esters, singly or in admixture. The compositions may contain a sugar such as glucose, the particles of which may be impregnated with solutions of water insoluble hormones in organic solvents, the solvent is evaporated and the resulting hormone-sugar may be mixed with dried yeast autolysate, or dissolved in liquid autolysate. Trace elements, vitamins, wetting and fixing agents may be incorporated. Examples relate to (1) 100 kilograms of wheat seed sprayed with 5 to 7 kilograms of a solution of 10 grams of glucose impregnated with 2 grams per kilogram of #-indolacetic acid in 500 grams of beer yeast autolysate with 0.5 per cent of orthohydroxyquinoline neutral sulphate, (2) a solution of glucose impregnated with # naphthylacetic acid and manganese sulphate in beer yeast autolysate containing also orthohydroxyquinoline sulphate and thiourea employed to soak sugar beet seed glomerules and (3) dried baking yeast autolysate containing fungicides as in (2) above is mixed with glucose impregnated with # naphthylacetic acid, and talcum. The powder was dusted on potato tubers before planting. Specification 591,951, is referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also compositions containing instead of autolysate, dry yeasts or yeasts degraded by processes other than autolysis, a further example relates to a dry preparation of baking yeast dried by atomization, manganese sulphate, glucose containing naphthylacetic acid, and talcum, employed in dusting sugar beet seeds. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
