Abstract
669,106. Selective pipe connectors. BLACKBURN & GENERAL AIRCRAFT, Ltd., and WHITWORTH, K. A. April 18, 1950 [April 26, 1949], No. 11053/49. Class 99 (i) A selective pipe connecting device comprises a spring-loaded connector or connectors 6 having a gasket 7 adapted .to engage any one of a row or rows of ports 2 and means for lifting the connector off its seat and for moving it to another port and allowing it to seat thereon. The rows of ports are arranged in an arcuate plate 1, and each port is connected to a flexible pipe 5. Each connector 6 is secured on the end of a flexible pipe 12. The connectors are carried by an arm 8 each end of which is secured to a lever 13 pivoted on a shaft 14 and they are lifted from their seats by an arm 10 and bars 18 slidably mounted on the levers 13. To alter the connections progressively along the whole row of ports the shaft 14 is rotated by a motor 41 through an oscillating lever 28, pawl 29, and ratchet 26, the reverse sequence being effected by a pawl 30 and ratchet 27, stops 38, 39 engaging the snap-over linkage 32, 35 on which the pawls are mounted. An arm 23 on the shaft engages either of levers 19, 20 pivoted on lever 13 to lift the connector 6 through the bars 18 and then rotate the lever 13 to place the connector opposite the next port. The arm 23 has adjusting screws 24. A spring detent (not shown) in the arm 8 engages recesses in the arcuate plate to keep the valves and ports in alignment.
