667,247. Lathe details. ANDERSONS (NEWTON MEARNS), Ltd., and ANDERSON, J. Dec. 4, 1950 [Dec. 23, 1949], No. 33012/49. Class 83 (iii). A boring, turning &c. machine in which the work is rotated, comprises a hydraulic system for feeding the tool, the system including a relief valve i which is intermittently momentarily opened by the kinetic energy of a member p to which an impulse is intermittently imparted by gravity or otherwise so that the chip is weakened or severed at predetermined intervals. The tool is fed by a piston b which is momentarily checked when a cam q releases a lever l and allows the adjustable weight p to cause a momentary opening of the valve i. Alternatively, the cam may release a spring, or a weight may be reciprocated by electrical, hydraulic or pneumatic means.
