Abstract

667,140. Rotary pumps or engines. VINCENT, H. C. G. Oct. 4, 1949. [Oct. 9, 1948; Sept. 10, 1949] Nos. 25498/49 and 25499/49. Class 110(ii). An eccentric rotor 1, in a casing 7, is provided with outwardly-sliding vanes 3 each having a duct 4 to allow pressure fluid to be forced to the underside of the vane. The base of each slot is curved longitudinally. A notch 8 in the leading edge of each vane, collects any foreign particles in the fluid, these being ejected through the outlet port. Lightening holes may be drilled longitudinally through the rotor between vane slots. For engines. the rotor may be of cast iron and the vanes of steel; for pumps plastic materials or light alloys may be used.
