[Also in Group XVII] Improvements in means for washing crockery and the like comprise a basket having a base, end members and side members loosely hinged to the base and guide loops carried by the side members co-operating with the end members whereby upward or downward movement of the end members with respect to the base will ensure relative movement of the side members with respect to the base. The basket, Figs. 1 and 2, which may be formed of steel wire mesh or perforated aluminium or the like comprises a base 10 to which are loosely hinged by metal rings 13, side members 12 and end members 11. The end members 11 are provided with handles 17, and interengage with the side members 12 by means of guide loops 14 arcuately secured across the lower corners of the side members. In the unfolded position the end members engage in recesses 15 formed in the loops 14 and locking means between the members may be provided. To fold the basket the end members are forced inwardly and downwardly towards the base 10 and the side members are also carried downwardly thereby. Crockery packed in the basket is immersed in a tank containing hot water and soap and is raised and lowered a number of times therein to effect washing. The crockery is rinsed in a similar manner and may then be drained after which the basket may be folded for storage.
