Abstract

546,619. Wash-tubs. MULLER, H. Nov. 18, 1940, No. 16640. [Class 138 (ii)] Washing apparatus consists of a vessel with a substantially continuous wall with a plurality of holes g therein so that when a bundle of clothes is moved up and down piston-like in the vessel the washing liquid is forced and sucked through the clothes and also through the holes to and from the surrounding vessel which may be separate from or made in one with the perforated vessel. If separate, holes may also be formed in the bottom e', Fig. 4, of the inner vessel and the bottom may be arched as shown at h. Where both are in one the inner vessel is without bottom and is secured to the outer. The inner vessel may be flared bucket-like or reversely and may have corrugations or local indentations. The vessel may have a spring-supported sieve n, Fig. 6, between which and a hand-operated upper sieve m the clothes may be bunched for plunging. The apparatus can be used for dyeing and like processes for textiles:
