Class 3(ii) A motor cycle rear number plate comprises an element 10 for the registration number which is illuminated by means 22 and which has a mounting 13 extending rearwardly, the rear side of the mounting being shaped to conform to the configuration of the mudguard so that the element 10 is vertical when the mounting is attached to the mudguard at the desired height by means 17. The mounting 13 is a U-shaped member which is secured to the mudguard by brackets 17 and to the lower end of which a plate forming the element 10 is hingedly secured. Lamps 22 are fixed to a bracket 18 at the top of the housing and protrude into a lamp glass 24 which is fixed in an opening in the plate 10. The bottom surface of the lamp glass is clear and the rear surface red. The plate 10 is held vertically by a detachable bolt which screws into a nut welded to the bracket 18. One of the lamps 22 may be connected as a stoplight.
