Abstract

664,880. Pug mills. BOULTON, Ltd., W., and HALL, H. H. Aug. 31, 1950 [Sept. 1, 1949], No. 22663/49. Class 86 In a pug mill the face of the worm or blades or both is formed with projecting formations so disposed that in rotation they will tend to guide the material towards the central axis of the pug mill and thus more effectively compress and consolidate it. As described, in a pug mill wherein a shaft 25, Fig. 5, carries blades 10 and short lengths of worm helix 27, some of the blades are provided on both faces with projections 11. These projections may be straight or curved as shown in Figs. 1 and 3. The worm helix sections 27 may also be provided with projections 11 if desired.
