Abstract
N - bis - (g - diethylaminopropyl) - 1 - diethylamino - 4 - sulphonamido - pentane is prepared by condensing g -diethylamino-a -chloropropane with ethane sulphonamide or its sodium salt, N - (g - diethylaminopropyl) ethane sulphonamide or its sodium salt, or N,N-di-(g -diethylaminopropyl) ethane sulphonamide. When the sodium salt is not used, the reaction is carried out in the presence of sodamide. An example is given in which ethane sulphonamide is added to a benzene suspension of sodamide, boiled to complete the reaction, cooled and thereafter mixed with g -diethylamino-a -chloropropane and more sodamide. The product is separated by distilling the reaction mixture under reduced pressure.
